The peninsula of Sao Lourenco offers an impressive contrast to the rest of the island. Bizarre rock formations change their colors in the sunlight and again and again our view wanders over the steel-blue sea that appears on all sides.

Tuff rock and basalt and endemic plants such as the ice plant characterize the landscape. From the easternmost point - the elephant's head - we can see the neighboring islands when the visibility is good.
